Shanna's Story

At CrossFit Kodiak Island, you'll find Shanna Rockenbach, a dedicated owner and coach with a passion for crafting an environment that fosters transformative fitness journeys. Hailing from the scenic landscapes of Kodiak, Alaska, Shanna brings a unique blend of skills to her coaching role, not only as a CF-L2 and Weightlifting Certificate holder but also as a Graphic Designer and Design Coordinator for Kodiak Area Native Association.

While actively coaching and shaping fitness experiences, Shanna is also pursuing her PN-1, Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach Certification, further enriching her expertise. Outside the gym, her free time is a canvas for creativity, ranging from pen and ink drawings, watercolors, and scrapbooking, to exploring photography and culinary arts. Shanna's love for being active outdoors and studying the Bible adds depth to her multifaceted pursuits.

A quirky fact about Shanna is that she's the youngest of seven children, and cilantro tastes like soap to her. In the realm of CrossFit, her favorites include wall balls, rowing, and 1RM jerks, showcasing her diverse appreciation for movements.

Coaching success for Shanna is exemplified by her work with the CrossFit Kids program, where witnessing young athletes evolve into confident young adults remains a profoundly rewarding experience. Her advice to newcomers emphasizes the power of consistency, echoed in the quote, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:21).

Motivated by a familial predisposition to dementia and cancer, Shanna actively works towards preventing these ailments, aspiring to enjoy old age with excellent mobility and health. Describing her coaching style in three words reveals Shanna as Compassionate, Knowledgeable, and Hands-On.
